restore vm to an older date then restore select files with a newer backup

My system purged a backup I need to restore from. I do however have an archive disk that is from two weeks prior to the date I need.

This is what I want to do:

1. restore from my removable archive disk
2. then restore an access DB (just one file) back to the server to reflect the most current changes.

will this work as expected?

P.S. the system did exactly as it was supposed to so no hard feelings towards my unitrends box. :)
