Im a new Network admin for a small company and we currently don't have any backups running. the previous admin left before he could get it going. We are paying for tape storage by Iron Mountain but not using it.
My problem is im looking for a used tape drive but i am unsure what exactly to get as ive never done tape backup before. I know we have a SCSI cable going to a backup server to where the drive should be.
We have about 20 LTO3 tapes but if we can find a drive for around the same price i would prefer LTO4 or LTO5 to save on amount of tapes. From the look of the last backup there was almost 2.5 TB of data with a full backup.
EDIT: Please note we cannot go with Cloud backup at this time as we do not have the bandwidth and our coporate office telling us to wait.
