Hi everyone. I'm trying to write up the failover / failback procedure for Veeam, but am a little confused about a few things.
Let's say I have two ESXi hosts. One is at the primary site and one is at a secondary site as a backup. The primary host has two VMs (for simplicity): the DC / file server and the Veeam server.
I've read that a lot of people put the Veeam server on the same host, so that it can back itself up. This is the part that confuses me. I've played around with the Veeam options and have seen the options to failover and failback, although I have yet to actually test it. However, assuming that the ESXi host completely fails, how am I supposed to perform the failover when the Veeam server is no longer accessible? I know it's recommended to do everything through the Veeam console.
