Hi everyone. I have a server that is used for a custom image archiving application. This application basically takes any inbound e-mails, faxes, or scanned paper mail items, then converts them into a TIFF file where it is finally archived on the server and made searchable via the application.
The TIFF files consume just over 800GB of space on the server, and there are several million of them.
We are currently using Backup Exec 2010 R3 to perform our backups, as most of our servers are still physical. It has been working very well for us and I usually perform a disk-to-disk-to-tape backup of each server. This server, however, presents a challenge to me because of the massive amount of tiny little files. The backup takes to long for a D2D2T backup, so I've been running the backup directly to LTO5 tape.
