I'm looking for guidance on job setup for the following scenario. Thanks in advance for all wisdom.
I've got Veeam dumping nightly backups to my 27TB QNAP NAS, which is synced daily with an identical NAS at a different location.
I've eliminated tape backups now, and would like to repurpose them again, as the NAS is almost full after almost a year.
I'm thinking of leaving at least a month's worth of live data on the NAS (or quarterly, semiannually, ..., as experience dictates), and dumping the older data onto tape. The monthly output should easily fit onto two LTO4 tapes. (A good chunk of the existing 27TB was carried over from prior repositories, so the actual annual growth is much less than that.)
I'm considering a NAS expansion, but we're government and it takes long to get any serious purchase through. Since we have all these tapes...
