Our non-profit needs to purchase a device for storing and backing up large video files. At this point I'm thinking this HP ProLiant ML350p Gen8 Server would be the best thing for our purposes:http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/proliant-servers/product-detail.html?oid=5177961#!tab%3Dspecs
It has the capacity for 768 GB of RAM, and 18 3.5" drives. I looked at NAS drives, but since we use Crashplan, which suggests 1 GB of RAM for every TB of data to back up, those wouldn't work. Synology's NAS enclosures look good, but the ones we were looking at only had a max of 4 GB of RAM. Also Crashplan would likely be harder to work with.
Is there anything that would compete with this server? We have close to 1.5 TB of data currently, and project 1-2 TB of data per year going forward. Possibly more since video projects may increase. We will only...
