OK so we've been using an in house delphi application to backup the 1500 or so firebird databases we host.
We've been running into issues with it lately. On one server I think the hardware is just too weak/old to handle it. The server is Win Server 2003 32-bit and has only 4GB of RAM and older CPUs.
On the other server it was working just fine at first, but when we tried changing the time of day at which it was scheduled it stopped working properly. It was backing up about 400 databases before and now it would only backup 14. I've been working with the developer of this backup utility and he's out of ideas.
I'm thinking it's time we utilized a more modern method of backups instead of using 15 year old (or however old) delphi code.
Basically we need to be able to backup about 1500 databases every week. 1 full on a weekend and a differential...
