My office is looking at moving off of Backup Exec 2010 with a Tape Library to another software vendor and a hard disk array (likely a SAN). We backup about ~30TB a month (this is for full backups - incrementals are maybe 5-6 TB a month).
Not being a pro at backups, before I ask for some recommendations, I have a few questions:
A) Currently we have tapes, which are rotated out to two "off site" locations so we have about a 3 month period of backups. This is done manually, we don't have any other offices to sync to over a WAN. This has worked fairly well for us as we don't need to pull old data very often. This causes us to have to do full backups about every 3 months, this is normal correct? I've seen 'incremental forever' in software solutions, but I don't see how this works unless you just keep buying disks...
