I am looking in to a new backup solution for my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-v host machine and a few VMs that we have. We have used tape drives in the past (prior to virtualization) but came across this disk storage offered from Dell.
Just am curious to see if anyone has used this PowerVault in the past or present and how satisfied they are with it? Some answers I am hoping to find here follow the normal backup questions such as:
- Speed of backup
- How the disks hold up
- Any device issues
- Any compatibility issues with Symantec
- Ease of backups AND recoveries
- How it compares to a tape solution
I have done some research on this particular device and some other tape drives so I don't expect anyone to give me answers or links about what it does. I am just hoping to get a users input on what you think of this backup device from a personal use point of view.
If possible, I would like to know a few pros and cons that come with this device that you may have found.
I was quoted from Dell for this device and the quote also included Symantec Backup Exec 2012, so if you have used the PowerVault with Symantec software, your comments would be greatly appreciated.
