Unitrends Archive unit not detected

My customer has a Recover-813 with an external ESATA archive unit (RXDA) that is not cooperating.  Unit has worked fine for the first year and customer decided not to renew subscription.  The archive unit has stopped responding and was wondering what would be the cause.  I've tired only rebooting the archive unit then rescan.  I tried reboot the recovery unit while archive unit was power on and rescan.  I tried rebooting the recovery unit and then rebooting the archive unit and rescan still nothing.  I've ssh into the unit and did a fdisk -l and don't see the sdc device mounted.  Am I looking for the right thing?  I've also check the sata cable and the sata card.  All is seated properly.  I'll bring a esata drive and another cable onsite to test.  I want to also bring a sata card but are they all compatible?
