I would like to be able to backup and restore individual emails to complete server recovery and have the data off site via tape. Set up is Exchange 07 using Backup Exec 12 with Exchange agent running on MS Server 2003 x64. Server drives are C: OS, D: Logs, E: Db's. Also I have a Network Attached Storage unit for additional storage.
My idea is to backup 'exchange' data with GRT selected to NAS and have an additional job to backup to 'server' data and NAS to tape. And use IDR for complete server recovery.
The areas I'm unsure on are:-
Do I need to backup D and E drives on the 'Server' backup job?
If I backup 'Exchange' data daily, I'll end up with 7 sets on NAS, I only need the latest day to go to tape/offsite. I guess I could setup subfolder for each day and set 7 backup jobs for each day. Is this the best way forward?
Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated
