Running UEB on ESXi for the past couple weeks, it's been doing fine with backups.
(This is the third time I've run across this problem, on the previous occasions it was early in my testing so I just blew away the UEB VM and started from scratch. At this point I need to figure out if it's an issue with Unitrends being fragile (or broken), or if it's something I can fix.)
When Unitrends loses connection to a NAS storage location, it seems to break. I had defined a NAS connection and Unitrends was showing it as Online, but there was no backup/archive activity on the system, nor had anything ever been stored to the NAS.
The NAS was rebooted, and now Unitrends just has a spinning clock icon on every screen, and none of my storage locations show up at all. I have yet to see if tonight's backups will run.
Logging in with a different browser yields the same results -- click on Manage Storage, and the cursor starts with the spinning clock and none of my storage locations are shown.
I pretty sure, based on previous experience, that the spinning clock is not going to go away -- last time I left it for 24 hours and it never changed, and when I tried restarting the VM last time, I got the dreaded corrupted user database and was never able to log into that VM again.
I'm curious if anyone has run into this before, and if it's solveable without getting Unitrends tech support involved. I haven't bought a support contract yet because I'm still not convinced it's the right fit for us -- while I like the product overall, we've had a lot of things break during this pilot and I can't sign up for more backup headaches.
