I am not an IT professional but somehow was assigned to supervise the single IT guy here at my location. It appears that we have no back-up to our servers. We have about 5 TB of data along with 5 physical servers and about 15 vm and numerous web sites. Previously Back-up Exec was used but is no longer and I sometimes feel as if a sword is hanging over my head waiting for things to crash. The IT person here and I have been discussing options and it seems there are a few. On the down side, we are a non-profit with a fixed budget.
What we do have:
A great IT guy that cares. He has been in non stop scramble mode and putting out fires for a while now and works on desktops to servers, etc.
We have spare rack space in a second location that can be utilized.
We have a headquarters location located in another city that could set up rack space.
We are looking at several options such as Appasure, Nimble, Intronis ($40/TB) and others. We would like to get to a secure and easily restorable back-up with reasonable purchase costs and hopefully low to no annual licensing fees. I would also like to keep things very simple and not have to use multiple programs to back-up everything. Thanks for your comments!
