I am in the process of testing FLR with Unitrends Enterprise Backup on a new single server VM host system. Configuration as follows:
HP G8 ML310e
http:/
16GB RAM
1TB RAID-10
3GHz quad core Xeon
Hyper-visor = Hyper-V Server 2012
Guest VM's = Server 2012 Standard (VM1) and (VM2), both with 2GB dynamic memory assigned
UEB VM = using NFR license, 480GB backup storage, 4GB memory (default)
I can create backups with no hassel, see that they run and contain data, but when I try to do a FLR, this is where I start to have problems. UEB seems to hang, but Hyper-V manager does not show any adverse CPU usage (20% at peak during backup job) using the web interface, and the disk image doesn't seem to load as fast as the video tutorial lead me to believe. So I refresh the page, and then I see a disk image listed, however, iSCSI and CIFS do not appear to populate. I left one go last night before going to bed and this morning it had iSCSI available, but still no CIFS. I tried running the iSCSI initiator from one of my VM guests and my Windows 8 laptop and could connect to the IP, but no disk ever populated in disk management as the video shows.
I am missing something, have the process backwards or is it a configuration issue? I am currently backing up with incremental forever, first full backup has been completed and first incremental also completed. I have walked through the steps multiple times and still haven't gotten anywhere yet, any help would be appreciated, I am hoping to put the server into production Saturday to begin data migration from an old server using BE (that's broke right now) and database application install (another consultant is doing that part) and he is on a time constraint.
I will also be sending off a support request to Unitrends as well.
