I installed Unitrends software VM and have watched the videos and did a small backup test. My question at this point is there a need for me to evaluate Veeam? Are there anything missing from Unitrends that Veeam provides? Veeam seems to have a more complicated setup where I would need to run an repurposed physical server outside of my virtual host to get the best performance. I don't know if I want to go through all that trouble to test if the products are even. Does anyone have any advice? Does one solution do better for replication offsite? I am currently using Backup Exec 2012 to backup the files on my VMs but no VM backups yet. I could also wait 1-3 months to see what BE offers as a VM backup solution but I am not sure they would offer replication. My time window to implement is small so I don't think BE is a solution.
