Recovering Storage Space

I am just finishing my eval (UEB DEMO went into Trial Mode today.. bummer). Eval support has been great and I am waiting for the arrival of my appliance now to go live.

One question I noticed last night as I started to clean up some of my test. No matter what I delete - it does not appear the storage area shrinks. I have deleted the scheduled backups, then into Manage Backups and deleted the jobs there. However the number of files on my NAS and the storage it takes has not reduced.

I did declare my storage device as 4TB, my raw data should only be around 1TB in my test but it is using all 4TB. I've read the docs that say that used space can be up to three times raw while it dedups and stores the last backup essentially in tact.

Is it just a matter of time while it figures out what is no longer part of the dedup to reduce storage or is it treating the store area kind of like a fat VMDisk with the space all declared whether or not it is being used?

Also - are you better to post here or in the Spiceworks forums? There is always a lot of traffic here and not nearly as much in their own forum on Unitrends.com?

Thanks,

Scott
