I am running Symantec Backup Exec 11d on one of my servers and the remote agent on another. About 3 weeks ago all of my nightly backups have been failing because of a communication loss between the main and remote agent. The server with backup exec on it is backing up, and the data is there and I was able to verify it, but the remote server is not. I have not installed any new software or drivers on either server, nor have I made any adjustments to the routers, switches or firewalls. I can not think of any logical reason why this would be happening all of a sudden. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
Also The main server is Windows Server 2003 and the remote is 2008. I have asked the powers that be for money to upgrade to the latest version but was told no. They said if it has been working, and nothing changed then make it work again. So upgrading either/both server 2003 or backup exec is not an option at this time.
