I am looking into an alternative solution to our backups. At the moment, we use Symentec Back Up Exec 2012 and we have two offices, The problem is that I do not go down to the other office on a regular basis, every other week infact. I am always having to remind the other office to put in the correct tape.
We have also recently upgraded our broadband to 60mb, Virgin Fibre Optic.
I am keen to get away from tape, LTO4 and LTO5, and use some sort of cloud back up solution.
The questions I have are,
1) So many companies out there such as Barracuda, Azure etc, who should I go with.
2). What is the cost per gb, do i do a one off back up then incrementals from there on.
3). If a user deletes a file or folder, how easy is it to get the file, folder back.
4). If we are audited, what are the pros and cons.
5). Do we still need tape?
