OK so one of my projects this year is to move from LTO and RDX backup to something that is quicker, easier but also we have a 1/4 rack in a Datacenter connected to our MPLS.
So i want to make use of this DR site but trying to work out how much storage i need both locally and at the DR site.
My original thought was to just download an Eval of something (Like Veeam/Unitrends) run it to a local NAS for 3 weeks, so i get some full and incremental and then i should see how much a Full backup takes but then how much changes per day? Then use these figures to estimate the total would be depending on what length we need to keep backups (my thoughts are 2 weeks local, 1 month DR Site)
Do you think this is a good way to asses our storage needs?
Or isthere an easier way of doing this?
p.s. This is not a Who's the best backup solution thread :)
