For most of my clients I use this basic model which works great.
Backup to usb using shadowprotect server then offsite to efolder, If the server crashes I bring in my loaner BDR and boot to virtualboot until I figure out the next step, if the site goes down efolder spins me up a BDR server in the cloud and I restore my servers and configure clients for vpn access.
My biggest client is pretty much the same except they have their own BDR and now both of their servers are Virtual (Server 2008 and Server 2012) using VMware Esxi (free) I wanted to get peoples opinions on if there is a better way to backup this client since they have all Virtual servers and their own BDR. I often think I should just be backing up the VM's at the host level and not running a program in the vm to backup.
Just wanted to review my backup DR plan for the new year...
