I need some advice on a better way to back up my environment and not have to spend a great deal of money doing so.
In short we run Network based backups for about 6 to 8 servers and backup about 2.5 tb's of data.
Most all OS's are 2003 server and one 2008 server.
Most all of the files are basic file based and we do have domino mail DB's along with SQL backup files.
I am using Backup Exec 2010 with a Quantum SL LTO5 drive
My largest concern is not so much the amount of data, it is the time it takes to complete all jobs associated.
I know one major issue with file based backups is a term known as "shoe shining".
Over all the speed of the backup jobs has been for the most part the same over the period of the last year.
But obviously the amount of data has increased.
Basically my full backups start at 6pm on a Friday and do not finish...
