Maybe I'm not reading correctly. So I'm prepping my backup strategy, see this post, and during testing, setup a CIFS share on FreeNAS as a backup target for Veeam. Backups worked flawlessly. So, next step was to setup Backup Exec job to backup the files to tape. Again, worked fine. Could even perform Instant Recovery of a server, which by the way is pretty cool.
Was mucking around and then thought maybe I should use an NFS share instead. Reading (can't remember where) that backup performance might be better with NFS. I thought I was setting it up correctly, but FreeNAS kept refusing the connection.
I realize that connecting to NFS is different than CIFS. Anybody have this setup who could guide me through this setup and possibly answer the performance question regarding backup target share type?
