Our company bought a couple QNAPs (TS-EC1279U-RP and TS-EC879U-RP) with the idea of using them for a low IOPs database and backup storage. Well, we've had nothing but issues with them and performance is very poor compared to the Equallogics we were supposed to be replacing.
We've dealt with VM migration corruption, failed LUNs, dead HDs (probably not QNAPs fault), and now one won't boot. Support has been either non-existent or painstakingly slow. Yesterday a "lead tech" was working on our system (Teamviewer session) when without warning he just stopped. We let the session active and sent periodic messages for 4hrs with no response. I was not here for the purchase, but the devices are not meeting the requirements of what we need.
