We are replacing the drive (750GB) in our DVR with a 4TB drive (both old and new drives are Seagate). The old drive is 98% full with data on 4 partitions. The company that installed the DVR said they normally split the 1 physical drive into 4 partitions to prevent data loss. We would like to clone the data from the old drive (drive has data only; OS (XP embedded) and software are on another drive). We're going to check to see if the partitions are really necessary.
My question's are: 1) should we find the partitions are necessary do we just clone the drive and then expand the partitions to take up the remaining disk space or should I just create 4 partitions on the new drive and use robocopy to transfer the data over? And 2) if the partitions aren't necessary, what would be the best way to copy/clone the data
