Looking for some advice...
I am looking atreplacing my HP servers with 3 new Dell servers. Would like to stick with HP, but the price difference between them and Dell is too much to ignore. However, I would like to stay with HP tape drives, as I've had tremendous success with them. The servers are rack mounted so the tape drives would be external SAS.My issue is:
HP recommends a particular SAS HBA for use with their tape drives in 3rd party servers, the LSI9212-4i4e. LSI does not explicitly certify this adapter in the Dell R420's (the server I'm looking at). The closest model they certify is the Dell R620 (too expensive and overkill for what I need). Dell cannot comment on the LSI adapter as to whether it will function is their servers or not and says that their SAS HBA will probably work fine. Since I'm mixing vendors here I would like...
