We have 2 Linux servers with approximately 10 TB of data on each and one with 24 TB
Most of the data is on read only partitions so that only 6 TB is available for adding data. The type of data is mainly used for graphic production and a lot of it is image data with jpeg and zip compressed tif files. The users nedd to be able to access the old data periodically.
We also have a some partitions for videodata that will be deleted after use and maybe never be used again. But I still need an long term/archiving solution for these data.
We believe the cheapest solution will be to backup everything direct to a LTO 6 tapelibrary.
I know a disk based solution will give quicker restore capabilities but it is not needed for the data stored. A disk based solution will also be more expensive and not able to move offsite.
The type of data will probably...
