I am a small dental office with less than 10 employees with 1). Windows 2012 foundation server as a file server and user profile server and 2). Windows 2008 r2 foundation server with SQL for our electronic patient charting software. Both are RAID 5. I was unfortunately hit with the Cryptolocker malware several weeks ago and learned the importance of a good back up the painful way. I'm taking this opportunity to try and improve our back up protocol.
I was able to recover most of our data via our online backup, iDrive, but it was a painfully slow process. Combined with removing the malware, decrypting the affected files and retrieving the backup files, my server has been down for several weeks.
