I'm currently working on a small backup concept for my home network. I'm building myself a new NAS that will be running FreeNAS and I'm not sure how I want to backup my data from the FreeNAS to a Synology DiskStation 214.
I'm going to run OwnCloud in a Jail so the files of the Linux/Windows/OS X Clients will be synced via the WebDAV protocol. There will be ZFS Snapshots 3 times a day which will be stored for 2 Weeks and a weekly snapshot which will be stored for 6 Months.
What would be the best way to backup the FreeNAS to the Synology DS214?
I could do something like an incremental rsync task but that this way you would loose the access to all the deleted or earlier versions of the files provided by the ZFS Snapshots...
any tipps or ideas? maybe TimeBackup?
