Moving Tape Drive

Morning All!

So hopefully we will be decommissioning our old Symantec backup to tape solution in favour of a new, shiny Unitrends appliance solution.

However, we will be retaining the tape for archiving from the new appliance to tape which will then be stored off site on a regular basis.

So my question is how to do I go about removing the tape from being in service with the Symantec software (i.e. connected to our HP Proliant DL380 server via SAS)?

The hammer in me says just switch off the tape drive, disconnect and connect to Unitrends, but I'm wondering if that will cause errors \ issues with the Proliant server expecting to see the tape drive?

I do have a Unitrends installation on the go at present, but decommissioning the old equipment might not be something they'd want to discuss \ be responsible for advising on!
