I am looking into redesigning our backup and recovery plan. Currently we backup 12 physical servers (most minimal 100-500GB but 2 are 5TB each) onto a 12TB storage server. I have been using a backup software that is great for the smaller servers but incredibly slow for the larger ones. Therefore I incrementally backup each server once a week due to the long time it takes to read the main image for the incrementals and write the data to the storage server.
We are moving the 12TB storage server offsite (Next door) and connecting it to our network via cat 6 cable that was run through conduit under the parking lot. This is awesome.
But I am looking at backup software that is fast and efficient with compression. I would like it to do bare metal restore, VM translation, work with an Oracle DB, use VSS, and I'd like to own it without paying...
