We currently support a few clients running Windows Server 2008 R2 which all use Windows Backup system. Since we support them remotely, the only means of monitoring so far is to manually check in the morning or receive an e-mail notifying us if the scheduled backup was successful or failed.
Is it possible to write a simple web service which polls all the servers in the morning, simply to check whether the backup was successful or not, compile that information and send it as an e-mail? If so how/where do I get started? I have little experience in programming.
