I got the call at 8 a.m. on Sunday. The office’s security alarm had been triggered and my boss wanted me to go check on things. It was raining hard when I arrived to open up the building. I walked around inside and nothing seemed to be wrong — until I made my way to the server room.
I opened the door and found a couple inches of water on the floor. Looking up, I quickly saw what had triggered the building’s alarm: A motion sensor in the room had seen the small waterfall dumping directly onto my server rack and cascading down the front of all my equipment.
