Whole Disk Encryption for Offsite Backups

Hello,

We use USB3 HDDs to take our backups offsite. If by chance the drive got lost, we'd like it to be encrypted. We used PGP Whole Disk Encryption at one point but every time the drive was plugged in it asked for a password. Problem with that was it wasn't just an easy "take one out put another in" process.

I'm wondering if maybe there's some kind of encryption that relies on keys that would be stored on the computer, instead of prompting for a password. I'm thinking Bitlocker might do this?

I know encrypting three 2TB drives might take a few weeks but once it's done it's done
