We have recently upgraded our servers and moved to Veeam backup.
Everything has been moved to the new system and the old servers have been taken offline. All the old VM's have been deleted except one. This is the HR system, and while it has been running fine on the new server, there is some reluctance to delete the old servers just yet.
However, I need the space that the old VM's are taking up on the disk. So what I would like to do is run a backup of them, compress and.or archive the files, then delete the servers themselves. I'm hoping this will clear some space, and stop my backups failing because they run out of space (all the important stuff is backing up successfully, just a few 'nice to have's' are failing).
So the question is, I know how to setup a backup, but I'm not sure how to archive it and if archiving would reduce the space it takes up on the backup disk. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
