We're in the process of eliminating tapes (finally) and BackupExec. I have 6 physical servers running Exchange (not virtual yet), SQL (not virtual yet), Domain Controllers (not virtual yet) and a Hyper-V environment on Windows 2012 with 20+ guests running various OS.
I looked at Veeam, but this doesn't cover my physical servers. Recently, I came across Unitrends, and found good reviews and comments about their solution, and it seems to be the best fit for my environment. What about offsite backup? Do I go for their hardware appliance and set up replication to my offsite location? Do I create my own solution with their solution and bring my own hardware into the mix?
If my SQL data is sitting on a SAN and outside of my VM (I will eventually virtualize SQL), will Unitrends pull everything together, or am I better off keeping the SQL data within the SQL VM?
Lots of questions, but I wanted to hear full and thorough feedback, so I figured I'd ask :).
