Veeam 7 B&R File Copy

Hello,

I'm trying to find a more managable solution for the shipping of our Veeam backups onto USB3.0 disk each night and have been playing around with the File Copy option to achieve it. My setup is as follows;

3 ESXi Virtual Hosts backed up by Veeam 7 to a NAS repository on the network (running Windows Server). We then use a robocopy job to copy the VIB's and VBK's to an attached USB 3 disk which we rotate and take off site daily.

I'm essentially wanting to replace the robocopy job with something scheduled, executed and managed by the Veeam console, thus giving me reporting statistics and flagging any issues et al.

During my tests however, it would appear that the file copy job will simply attempt to try and copy the whole repository directory to the USB 3 disk and not just replace the existing data as per retention policy, i.e. fileserver has a 20 day retention so only the most recent backup should be copied and the latest deleted. At present the robocopy only copies the changes from the repository to the external disk whereas file copy attempts to do a full over write.

Am I looking at a setup issue or is the functionality built into the file copy module as per described above?
