The title kin do f says it all looking for a ways to test tape media and determine if it should be replaced. We have some very old tapes in rotation and we receive errors all the time during the verify stage that the data being read from the media is inconsistent, this causes the job to fail. Sometimes the verify will resume and go all the way to the end verifying everything even after the error, other times it will just stop verifying or resume but not verify the same amount of data that had been written. FYI the software we are using is BEEXEC 2010 all current patched installed running on a VM of 2008SBS. Our 2003 ERP server which also used BEEXEC 2010 backing up a much smaller amount of data to LTO 2 as well does not have any of these issues.
