Hi everyone,
We already have a main backup solution for all our servers. However, for the product we make here system images are taken of the computers before they get shipped out and these are currently sitting on 4 Terastations. In total we currently have ~17.5TB of data on these.
Recently it's come in to question about what would happen if there was a fire. Large amounts of panic would probably be the answer as they aren't included in the normal backups.
So, I've been asked to look into some suitable drives that we can backup to and then put offsite. It needs to be small enough to fit in a fire safe. We've thought about USB drives but once you start getting up to 6/8TB they are quite bulky. My other thought was to get a 4-bay NAS enclosure and have a dedicated set of disks for each of the Terastations and swap them out as required. Would this work? And if so any suggestions on an enclosure?
Just to say as well - cloud backups are a no go due to there being... security concerns from the higher ups. They are a touch paranoid! haha.
Many thanks!
