D2D backup - how are you getting offsite?

So, as I mentioned in another thread, I'm working with a small shop that is currently using disk based backup with Veeam backing up their 2 virtual hosts to an onsite NAS.

Right now, they are just doing daily backups at night to the NAS. Thanks to Rick at Veeam, I'll be setting up some monthly/yearly jobs so they can go back months/years. Now I'm just trying to figure out how best to get this offsite.

I've thought about buying a few USB drives and rotating them. But searching through the community, I see a few of our experts recommend syncing the local NAS with another offsite unit. I'm wondering if this would be a place to take advantage of the "cloud" so to speak. Can I get storage from say a provider like Amazon and sync my local NAS backups to that? Then, my concern becomes, to those of you syncing your backups offsite, how do you handle restores? I mean, it is probably only 1TB of live data that would have to be downloaded to get up and running again (not including previous archived backups which can be downloaded later), but that still takes a while to download. Not quite like having a physical disk in hand.

Any input? Thanks!
