Need some advice. Working with a small shop that has 2 VMware hosts. Right now I am taking nightly backups of the VMs using Veeam to an onsite NAS box.
Management has outlined their requirements that backups need to allow them to keep 5 years of data (for tax purposes, contracts, etc.).
So I am wondering what's recommended practice in such a scenario? Is anyone who is all virtual just running a monthly backup job of all their VMs and then archiving that backup somewhere? And then at the end of the year, store that last month's backup somewhere else to keep for 5 years? I'm just wondering if I am approaching this correctly. Seems like a classic backup method and I didn't know if there are any recommendations with a more modern disk-based virtual machine backup approach.
