SBS 2011. Backing up to an external 1TB hard drive. This runs each weekend (during the week we backup differentials to an internal cartridge).
What I am finding is the user is unplugging the external drive, mapped by the system as G, and plugging in the next hard drive (so one can go offsite) and the system maps the new one as H. Obviously this weekends backup failed as the G drive no longer existed.
Is there a way to script this? I know i could tell the user to login, click "Safely Remove", then insert the new drive and all that, but it seems (from experience) that counting on your users to do the right thing never produces a satisfactory result.
