The reason I ask is Shadowprotect are now a pain to deal with since they took the distribution back in house for Europe!
We purchased 9 copies of the server edition back in 2010 from the old distributor who were fantastic - great customer service. This year we ordered the shadow vm backup 12 license pack along with upgrade/maintenance for 5 of the old copies.
So far, when the reseller tried to purchase the upgrade with the valid license keys, it was refused unless we provided proof of purchase (I don’t see why), however we provided the proof of purchase anyway. We then received an email wanting proof of continual maintenance – although the website states that you can purchase the upgrade even if you have let the maintenance slip.
Whilst the software is okay, Storagecraft seem to think that they are the only backup vendor on the market or are not interested in the SMB market. We will continue to use the currently owned shadowprotect copies on the older physical servers running server 2008 and are now looking into Veeam for the new VM servers as Veeam seem to get great reviews.
