Ive had the problem months, and i only have 3 days storagecraft images! i like to have 2 weeks on tape normally, so this is really getting to me, never had a problem take me so long! ive now almost given up!
all the tests pass on the HP tape test tool, occasionally one does give a warning about Connection to drive and SCSI termination, but its fine, because the external drive is powered termination and cant be disabled.
Does anyone think its worth changing the PCI Riser card? that the scsi adapter goes into...do they fail?
OK, i have a DELL R710, with a LSI Ultra320 Scsi adapter, connected to that is a external LTO 4 Quantum Drive.
I can inventory tapes fine, i can label tapes fine.
Backups fail, just after snapshot and starting to write to tape, catalog fails.
I have completly removed and reinstalled symantec 12.5, i have also tried trials of other products, all come with the same hardware error.
I have got a new tape drive, i have new tapes, i have a new adapter card, a new cable, ive swapped the slots on the scsi adapter, change the scsi id, pretty much everything i can think of trying, i dont have another server capable of hosting this device :(
It started out gradually, occasionally a failure, then a bit more, now 100% failure.
ive removed the device out the registry, added it all back, added new drivers from 2010, used the symantec ones, etc etc.
Any ideas please? :) thanks!
