Currently using Commvault and still on the lookout for something cheaper and as good for the functionality we use it for now and for the foreseeable future.
Is anyone using Asigra as an on-premise solution?
We have around 20TB of data which is split (roughly) 8/7/1/2TB between:
- A primary Windows File Server
- A primary Linux File Server
- Exchange 2010
- vSphere Cluster
- The rest of the 20TB being other stuff spread across a few boxes.
The main thing Commvault offers is global dedupe with client-side dedupe and excellent tape support (can't beat the bandwidth of a box of LTO5's hurtling down the highway!), however every time I cost up more capacity I wince a little.
On another thread someone from Asigra mentioned that they now offer pricing based around how much you recover. There was a calculator, and it looked cheap if you didn't do restores often, but I know you have to take a huge pinch of salt with most "Look how much you'll save!" calculators.
I don't wish to sound snarky but I'd be grateful if we could stick to the knitting rather than the usual "pick me, pick me" or "Unitrends" responses that most questions seem to illicit.
